HOW DO I BOOK INTO A CLASS?

You can book in at our Studio Timetable page.

Alternatively, you can download the free MINDBODY App on your phone and register the required information.

Search ‘Spirit Flow Yoga, and book your class.

Upon arrival at the studio, please remember to check in and give your name to your Flow Facilitator to sign you in to the class to ensure you are not marked as a no show.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY BOOKING?

You can cancel your booking any time up to 2 hours prior to the class with no penalty

After this window you will be unable to cancel your booking and if you are not on an unlimited yoga pass, a session will be deducted from your class pack.

BEFORE YOU TURN UP FOR YOUR FIRST CLASS…
  • Arrive 15 minutes before class so you have sufficient time to, meet your teacher and settle in.
  • Remember to allow ample time for public transport, parking and finding the studio.
  • Make sure you’re well hydrated: drink sufficient water for at least an hour before class and that day.
  • Try not to eat a large meal within 2 hours of the start of class.
  •  If you are hungry do have something small – a piece of fruit, protein ball, light snack – to ensure you have energy to practice. Light snacks are available for purchase in studio
  • As spots in our classes may be booked in advance, we kindly ask that you check into the studio iPad on arrival so the instructors can see who is there.
  • If you’d like to speed things up before your first class, you can create an account by clicking on “My Account” next to your studio class timetable to purchase your class pass, sign our liability waiver and book into your preferred class.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
  • A bottle of water.
  • A mat if you have one, otherwise good quality mats are available to purchase at your local studio.
  • A small towel or large if you tend to sweat a lot when working hard.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
  • Comfortable clothing that you can move and sweat in.
  • Fitted, active gym gear, i.e. tights or shorts and a singlet.
  • We practice in bare feet so please leave shoes at the studio entrance.
YOGA ROOM ETIQUETTE
  • Please bring yourself, your mat, your towel and your water into the room.
  • Bags and phones are not permitted, so please leave them in a locker for safety.
  • Position your mat in the middle of the room so there are students all around to help guide you if you get lost.
  • Take a block as it will assist with poses (not a sign of weakness, we all use them)
  • Please listen and respect your body: work within your limits and rest whenever you need.
  • Don’t leave class early except in an emergency: if you need to rest or feel very hot, try coming into Child’s Pose.
WHAT ARE THE FACILITIES?
  • Mats and towels available for hire.
  • Bottled water available to purchase.
  • Shower and toilet facility
  • Small Lockers for secure storage of small personal belongings
ARE ALL CLASSES HEATED, AND WHY?
  • For most of our classes, the studios are heated to 30 degrees to help loosen up your muscles and connective tissue. This helps increase suppleness, joint mobility and flexibility.
  • The heat also promotes sweating: a great way of detoxing through the skin
  • Our Flow Energy classes are heated to 30 degrees and Flow Intense 32 degrees, however these are balanced with the actual heat level of the day and humidity so you are not uncomfortable.
CAN I DO YOGA WHEN I’M PREGNANT?
  • Heated yoga is not recommended for pregnancy, so we advise you not to attend those classes.
  • As an alternative, why not try Slow Flow Yoga or Flow Yin, (Heated Vinyasa is not suitable for at least 3 months after giving birth).
  • Please check with your doctor in advance and let your teacher know you’re pregnant so they can help you modify poses as necessary.
HOW CAN I AVOID GETTING INJURED?

Although yoga’s generally considered a fairly safe form of exercise, injuries can occur when students don’t take appropriate modifications or try and force their bodies into postures they are perhaps not ready for.
It is imperative that you honour what your body needs, every time you step on the mat.

Here are some tips to prevent injuries:

  • If you have any pre-existing conditions, please speak to your doctor or physiotherapist before coming to class.
  • Focus on maintaining a smooth steady breathing through your practice, even if that means taking a less intense variation of a posture.
  • Listen to your body and its subtle clues about how deeply, strongly or for how long you should hold a posture.
  • If you are experiencing any pain or exhaustion during class, please stop and rest immediately.
  • Make sure you warm up thoroughly at the start of class. Our Flow Vinyasa classes are designed to get the body moving in sequence with sun salutations, for example to increase circulation to muscles, lubricates joints, and prepares the body for deeper postures.
  • Use props – blocks, bolsters, towels and straps to help maintain safe alignment,
  • Each of our bodies is built differently, listen to the alignment cues and notice how your body responds.
  • Please speak to your teacher if you have any concerns whatsoever in relation to your practice.
